Dear Homeowner,
Recently, Weyerhaeuser Company issued a press release regarding one of its products, TJI Joists with Flak Jacket Protection. In its press release, Weyerhaeuser stated that a recent formula change caused TJI Joists treated with Flak Jacket Protection to release formaldehyde fumes. TJI Joists are used to support the floor of a home, and Flak Jacket is a flame retardant used to protect a home from fire.
I am sending you this brief letter to ease your mind that neither your home, nor any Oakwood Home has been constructed with the “Flak Jacket” product. Oakwood Homes uses other municipality approved methods to meet the code enforcement regulations.
Thank you for your trust through your purchase of an Oakwood Home. We will continue to work hard every day to earn it and to build and service our many homeowners throughout Colorado and Utah.
Respectfully,
Scott Thorson
Chief Operating Officer
