While owning a home is a major component of the American Dream, this dream is difficult to attain in Denver’s housing market. With the average price of a new home in the $500,000s, home ownership comes at a high price that many cannot afford.
Oakwood Homes is working to change this dilemma with its latest collection of homes, American Dream. First responders, teachers and military are Oakwood Homes target market for the American Dream homes because they have the most difficulty affording a home. The American Dream homes have an average price point of $230,000 and are between 1,200 to 1,400 square feet.
On Monday, December 3, Oakwood unveiled its 24-home development in Green Valley Ranch with a grand opening that received widespread support from the city. The Mayor of Denver and the Mayor from Aurora and Commerce City were in attendance as well as other various city and school officials. Nearly all 24 homes in the first development are under contract with the first closings occurring in late December.
