Housing affordability is not a new issue, and in recent years, has become a growing crisis across the United States. Studies indicate, as of 2022, 4-5 million more homes are needed and on an increasing basis – teachers, fire fighters, police officers, city maintenance workers, etc., can no longer afford to live in communities they serve.
Building upon Oakwood Homes’ passion for opening doors to a better life, Solution Builders is Oakwood’s newest enterprise. Oakwood Homes has always been a homebuilder and a community developer, where schools and world-class amenities foster the social networks that become the fabric of sustainable neighborhoods. After more than 30 years of partnering with school districts and municipalities across Colorado’s Front Range involving complicated housing developments, Solution Builders is leading the way to leverage public-private partnerships in new and innovative ways to respond to the unique needs of each community that we engage. This is especially important now given the increasing demand for affordable housing. Our commitment is not just to build high quality housing but to build high quality communities.

These partnerships are not just with municipal and state governments but also with larger employers in communities who need workforce housing to attract and retain talented employees. Projects
La Paz Micro-Community
In close partnership with the City and County of Denver, Solution Builders created and delivered 60 sleeping cottages to create a community that connects unsheltered people living on the streets with temporary housing, support and services. The support and services are provided by Colorado Village Collaborative with food services being provided by faith organizations and other existing food services. This community provides the first step in the path to stable housing for those in need. Our sleeping cottages are made of the same quality as our full-size homes and include both A/C and heat as well as windows to enhance the lived experience by residents.
Central City – 2025 & Beyond
Solution Builders is pursuing a public-private partnership with the Urban Renewal Authority of Central City, Gilpin County, to develop approximately 90 attainable homes. This initiative is part of our broader commitment to community-minded development and aims to remediate blighting conditions in the area. To achieve our affordability goals, we are actively exploring partnerships with other public and non-profit organizations to secure diverse financing options for land acquisition and offsite development, ensuring the project’s success and long-term sustainability.
